About LSP
The Learning Support Program (LSP) is a Vancouver School board initiative that is designed to assist students with their learning needs.This program will assess and develop the fundamental core competencies of students in the BC Curriculum by engaging students in a wide range of written, spoken, calculative, interpretive, and critical activities that will challenge the students’ communication, thinking, and personal and social interaction. The course will also attempt to assist student with their learning needs as they become more, confident and comfortable growth-oriented learners.

The LSP students are currently reading the story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. which is about a society where everyone is extremely equal. We have discussed the basic principles of stories and we are now exploring the notion of identity and how it relates to society.

Chunk
ScienceThe LSP students are currently experimenting with the basic state changes of water. Using our earth's natural water, as an example we are talking about the way that matter changes and the ways that energy is exchanged.

Learn in steps
Math
The LSP students are currently working on the computer to build basic computational skills. We will soon shift from these simpler calculation tasks to more difficult, word-based and interpretive problems

Social Studies
The LSP students have been engaging with concepts surrounding geography. First, we discussed personal geography. Now, we are discussing thematic geography. Soon, we will move to discussion of how geography shapes peoples.
